Kim is joined by Shelley Mannell BSC at this outstanding yearly conference for a session on Trauma in the Body, Sensorimotor/OT Track.
This workshop will provide a brief introduction to the connections between emotional trauma and the body by highlighting known biological connections that impact neurology, soft tissue, immune system and endocrine processes. Assessment of posture and movement as affected by trauma will be introduced with intervention options through sensorimotor play, and hands-on experiences will be a focus of the session. Yoga mats and comfortable clothing will be required for this session.
Participants will be able to:
1) Develop an understanding of the biological links between trauma and the body;
2) Develop a preliminary understanding of how trauma affects the posture and movement systems;
3) Develop a preliminary understanding of how treatment through the body postures will affect the emotional systems support in the healing of trauma;
4) Develop introductory experience of certain movements and sensorimotor activities that support the transformation of trauma in the body.
